Catherine Ford was born Bloomsbury in London. Because her father had left the family of Ford, they were managed by her grandmother, mom as well as godparents. When she was a young girl Ford was afflicted with anxiety due to an obsessional-compulsive disorder. Ford's passion for acting started when she was young. She was a part of in the National Youth Theatre. After being accepted to Sylvia Young Theatre School for only a few days but Ford realized it wasn't the ideal location for her. Ford, instead of applying for admission to Central School of Speech and Drama and getting a spot after her third try she applied for and was awarded acceptance to Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall played Pete Tyler on Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993, but she already had her TV debut in a 1992 episode of Surgical Spirit. She adopted the title Catherine Tate. Tate appeared on TV in the Nineties through shows like The Bill and Men Behaving Badly. Her regular work in theatre has led to her joining the Royal Shakespeare Company, for the 2000-2001 season. Tate began to gain attention for her stand up comedy in 1996.
