Catherine Ford is a British actress who was born in Bloomsbury. After her father left her household, the actress was brought up by her mother godparents and grandmother. As a young girl, she struggled with an obsessional disorder and suffered from anxiety because of the word"association. Ford started to become fascinated by acting at the age of teenager, and she joined the National Youth Theatre. She was accepted into Sylvia Young Theatre School but after one week decided she wasn't a good fit. Ford rather than applying to Central School of Speech and Drama and winning a placement at the third time made an application and secured an admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall - who later was the character Pete Tyler in Doctor Who was among Ford's classmates. Ford was not able to graduate in 1993. In 1991, however, Ford had made her debut on television in a show called Surgical Spirit. At that moment, Ford adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate was on television in the Nineties with shows such as The Bill and Men Behaving Badly. She worked on stage regularly and was a member of the company's season 2000-2001. Tate was soon recognized for her stand-up comedies, which were added to Tate's selection in the year 1996.
