Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. When her father's departure from her household, the actress was raised up by her mother, grandparents, and godparents. When she was a little girl, she struggled with an obsessive compulsive disorder and suffered from anxiety because of the word association. Ford began acting during her teen years and joined part of the National Youth Theatre. The school she was accepted to was Sylvia Young Theatre School. After a couple of days, she realized that Sylvia Young Theatre School was not the right place for her. Ford reapplied for admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama and, on her fourth application she was eventually admitted. Shaun Dingwall was one of Ford's fellow students. The actor would go on to have frequent roles on the show as Pete Tyler and Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993, but she already made a TV appearance in the 1992 episode Surgical Spirit. She adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate was featured in a variety of television programmes such as The Bill, Men Behaving Badly, and London's Burning in the Nineties. In addition to her regular performances in the theatre, Tate also joined with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. Tate was soon recognized for her stand-up comedy, that were added to her repertoire in 1996.
