Her father, an Argentinean with Scottish as well as English descent is her mother. The mother of her is Spanish-English. The four siblings of Taylor-Joy are from her father's former marriage. Family resided at Buenos Aires up until Taylor-Joy aged 6 and later moving to Victoria district of London. Taylor-Joy stated that the relocation was traumatic and she was unable to go back to school in English because she hoped to return to Argentina. Her school had to change from Northlands to Hill House. Her next school was Queen's Gate School, where she learned dance and participated in shows. Then she dropped out of high school when she was 16 in order to pursue an acting career. Taylor-Joy was an actress as a kid and was sure she would eventually become an actor. The realization of her dreams came after Sarah Doukas, the founder of Storm Management offered her a modelling job.
